Singapore Accreditation Council Customer Day 2026

The Singapore Accreditation Council (SAC) Customer Day 2026, held on 12 June at the Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel, brought together distinguished international guests, representatives from accredited conformity assessment bodies (CABs) and SAC's partners. This year's event held special significance as Singapore's Standards and Conformance (S&C) community celebrated a landmark milestone — 40 years of accreditation and 60 years of standardisation in Singapore.

The Customer Day followed two milestone events - the S&C Gala Dinner, where Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong unveiled Singapore's S&C 2035 Strategic Plan — an ambitious roadmap guiding Singapore's Standards and Conformance development for the next decade; and the S&C Summit, which brought international and local partners, stakeholder and end-users together to exchange views on key global and regional developments. SAC Customer Day provided the opportunity to bring those conversations closer to home, reflecting on what this national direction means for SAC and its accreditation community.

In his opening address, SAC Chair Mr Amos Leong reflected on four decades of building trust, enabling trade, and strengthening Singapore's quality infrastructure. He highlighted that behind every certificate, every test report, and every accreditation mark are dedicated professionals who ensure that confidence in Singapore is earned, protected, and strengthened every day. Looking ahead, Mr Leong outlined SAC's direction under the SAC 2030 Strategic Plan which aligns with the national S&C roadmap, positioning accreditation as a strategic growth enabler and not merely a compliance obligation. He encouraged CABs to grow alongside SAC into emerging focus areas including the green economy, digital economy, health and wellness, and advanced technology, and reaffirmed SAC's commitment to supporting them through targeted training and closer dialogue.

Mr Tan Yee Teck, Executive Director, Quality and Excellence, Enterprise Singapore, took the audience through SAC's reflections and next phase of growth. He shared key achievements from 2021 to 2025, including the development of 19 new accreditation programmes, the maintenance of 35 international MRAs covering more than 100 economies, and SAC's successful completion of APAC re-evaluation in March 2026. He also outlined SAC's priorities for the next five years, including developing new accreditation programmes in emerging sectors, strengthening international recognition, and deploying AI and digital solutions to enhance SAC's accreditation system and competencies.

SAC was honoured to have Mr Brahim Houla, inaugural Chair of the Global Accreditation Cooperation Incorporated (Global ACI), grace the occasion. Mr Houla shared insights on Global ACI's establishment journey, vision, and what accredited CABs in Singapore and the region can look forward to as the organisation continues to grow. Formed on 1 January 2026 through the merger of IAF and ILAC, Global ACI represents a unified international voice for accreditation, building on decades of work in international equivalence and Mutual Recognition Arrangements. SAC participates as a full member with MRA signatory status across all previous scopes and looks forward to the opportunities this new chapter brings for Singapore's accreditation community.

A highlight of the evening was the recognition of 41 newly accredited CABs across six accreditation schemes — laboratories, management systems certification bodies, validation and verification bodies, product certification bodies, inspection bodies, and auditing organisations.

The evening also marked a proud moment for SAC as Mr Brahim Houla presented the Global ACI plaque to SAC Chair Mr Amos Leong, affirming the international standing of Singapore's accredited conformity assessment bodies within the global accreditation ecosystem.
