Continuation of Mutual Acceptance of Data (MAD) for Singapore GLP Compliance Programme by OECD

Singapore was the first non-OECD country in Asia to become a full adherent member of the OECD Mutual Acceptance of Data (MAD) for Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) in January 2010.  The OECD System of MAD for GLP is a multilateral agreement which allows participating countries to recognize the results of pre-clinical safety tests done on new chemicals. Data generated in an adherent country in accordance with OECD Test Guidelines and OECD Principles of GLP shall be accepted in other adherent countries for purposes of assessment and other uses relating to the protection of human health and the environment.   The Singapore GLP Compliance Programme has successfully undergone the OECD re-evaluation from 18-22 November 2019. The positive recommendation for the continuation of Singapore as full adherent member of OECD MAD has been approved by the OECD GLP Working Group at its 34th meeting in February 2020 at Sendai, Japan.  The benefits of the continued recognition of Singapore GLP Compliance Programme will be that our registered GLP facilities in Singapore continue to provide recognised non-clinical safety testing of new chemicals to support registration in overseas markets including the US and Europe.  It is also a strong endorsement of our supporting infrastructure for growing our local chemical and biomedical sectors.
